WhizRider was a vest with an integrated belt system that fitted into any handbag: the most compact child seat solution on the market. TEQABLE developed the belt guides with the start-up smartridr and supported the work on the plastic buckles.

Situation

Families who travel or use car sharing, taxis or ride services such as Uber and Lyft rarely have a child seat with them. The start-up smartridr developed WhizRider for them: a vest with an integrated belt system that fitted into any handbag or child's backpack and was on in a few seconds.

Goal

A restraint system that, compact as it is, performs in the crash test and prevents the known danger of submarining, where the child slides under the seat belt.

Solution

Biomechanics experts and accident researchers contributed to WhizRider. TEQABLE developed the special belt guides (safety clips) together with smartridr and supported the choice of materials for the plastic buckles with regard to strength and flammability.

Outcome

  • Belt guides (safety clips) developed together with smartridr
  • Plastic buckles designed for strength and flammability
  • US safety regulations exceeded in the crash test
  • Submarining prevented by design: the child cannot slide under the belt

“Working with TEQABLE is exceptionally uncomplicated, direct and very efficient. The friendly and trusting way we work together leads to optimal solutions very quickly.”
